VIDEOS
This hard-hitting new video shows what might happen if untrained staff are faced with an outbreak of fire. It emphasises how appropriate actions can prevent a small fire turning into a disaster, and that proper staff training is VITAL to prevent death and destruction.

The audience for the video - employers, those who carry out training for them, and the employees themselves - will not forget the essential message, four basic actions which the video presents:

  • Raise the alarm
  • Call the brigade
  • Attack the fire (if safe to do so)
  • Evacuate the building.

Action in the Event of Fire is ideal for use in training staff who need to know about the procedures to be followed in the event of fire in the workplace.  It will help employers protect their staff and premises as well as meet their legal obligations.

Duration: 12 min

This training video is designed to inform the whole workforce about the causes and effects of arson and how to guard against them.
  • It opens with a massive arson fire on commercial premises and draws lessons from it
  • It identifies factors which might encourage an arson attempt
  • It describes the opportunist (and thus preventable) nature of most arson attacks
  • It puts forward a range of simple measures to help repel the arsonist
  • It emphasises the need for vigilance on the part of everybody in the workplace

Arson at Work is ideal for training staff about arson. It will give them a better understanding of the likely consequences of an arson attack and will equip them better to safeguard their workplace against the activities of the arsonist.

Duration: 16 Min

This video provides excellent practical advice about how to extinguish workplace fires, what extinguishers are suitable for use on different types of fires, and how they would be used.  Demonstrations show the following extinguishers in use - water, foam, powder and carbon dioxide - and the video also covers the types of colour coding which employees may encounter on extinguishers in the workplace, including the coding provisions of BS EN 3.

In addition the video shows how to use fire blankets and hose reels.

Extinguishing Fires in the Workplace is ideal for use in training staff who need to know which extinguisher to use and when and how to use it.

Duration: 18 Min 30 Sec.

This video, the first to examine the role of the fire warden in a company's fire safety arrangements, looks at the link between the fire safety manager and fire wardens, the people who form a company's front line of defence against fire.  It shows how managers should supervise the training of fire wardens in general fire safety awareness and then goes on to follow a warden through a fire drill and premises evacuation.

Duration: 10 Min 30 Sec.

Hot Work Risks is aimed at the very wide audience of operatives who are responsible for hot work processes in the building industry.

The scenario is a working dialogue between an experienced hot work operative and a person with a fire prevention and health and safety role who is seeking guidance on best practice.

The video reviews the various main hot work processes, shows the consequences of careless hot work, identifies the types of problems and gives guidance on safe procedures, including the importance of a formal system of recording and controlling hot work activities during building work.

This is a programme of expert advice aimed at construction industry staff who carry out or supervise hot work; it is ideal for use in sessions where such workers are being trained.

Duration: 21 Min

This video is ideal viewing for people concerned with making a fire risk assessment, especially those unfamiliar with the procedure, and it reviews five essential actions:
  • IDENTIFY THE RISK by making a full inspection of the premises;
  • ANALYSE THE FINDINGS to see what remedial action is needed;
  • ELIMINATE HAZARDS as far as possible;
  • MINIMISE HAZARDS if the cannot be removed;
  • MANAGE THE RESIDUAL RISK (by, among other things, preparing an emergency plan).

It is almost certain that fire safety legislation applies to your workplace.  If you need expert guidance about making a fire risk assessment, then buy this video.  It has been assembled by fire safety professionals with you in mind.  It will help you fulfil your duties under the law.
